We all have an old lamp lying around that we can no longer see in paint! What if we gave it a second life instead of throwing it away? Thanks to Simone's smart DIY, from the Make My Day blog, it's very simple: a little paint, varnish, some glitter and masking tape, and here is your transfigured lamp!
Equipment
You will need: - an old lamp to customize - glitter - nail polish - solvent - a spray paint (spray paint for graffiti is very good for this kind of use) - scissors - masking tape - adhesive tape - a soft brush like makeup brush
Steps
1. Tape all the areas not to reach with the bomb thoroughly. 2. Get outside (never try to dish out inside!). My technique: I have no garden or balcony, so I installed a support for the planter on my window sill. Thus, I can hang my small objects and bomb them with the outside air.
3. Shake the bomb strongly and for a long time, then spray frankly without lingering too much on each zone. Then let dry 48 hours. 4. Once your lamp is completely dry, apply a thin layer of nail polish on the details you want to glitter (here I chose the push button). Once the first layer is dry, repeat the operation with a second thin layer; Wait 40 seconds, then sprinkle with glitter. After 10 minutes, gently remove the excess using a makeup brush. Then let it dry for several hours. To make the finish more attractive, I drew the outline of my glitter area with a silver DIY felt found at Hema. 5. Cut a piece of masking tape about 15 cm. Tighten the electric cord of the lamp, and put the tape on it, stretching it well. Fold down one side over the entire length, then the second. Repeat the process on the rest of the cable. 6. Remove the pieces of scotch tape and clean the non-bulging areas if necessary with a cotton pad and a little solvent.
